Our next public event will be Friday, July 4th, from 10 AM to 2 PM. Muskrat Rabble will be leading a fourth of July parade for the city of Everett, WA, beginning with a children's parade (for a portion of the parade route) at 11:00 AM. Muskrat Rabble plays New orleans style parade music, and the kids will be our "second line." Then we'll be shuttled back to the parade beginning and do the entire length, with the politicians as our second line. After that we'll do two short concert performances and conclude around 1:45. It's a great band (there's information on another page of this site) and everybody's sure to have a lot of fun.

Thursday, August 7, 2008, 7PM to 10PM; The Pete Leinonen Band, our modern jazz project, has a rare public performance on August 7 (first thursday) at The New Orleans Creole Restaurant in Pioneer Square. This is a First Thursday Gallery Walk date. When the series began in the early 80's, The Pete Leinonen Band was very much a part of the festivities, appearing every month for the first decade, and occasionally since, often at The New Orleans. There's information about the New Orleans below, in the Radio Rhythm Orchestra part of this page, and on our links page.

Other than these two dates, our groups are booked up with private parties, which is typical for summer in Seattle. If you can't wait to see us, why not put on an event yourselves; we still have some open dates.

1RADIO RHYTHM ORCHESTRA
Directed by Pete Leinonen

Our dance events this spring included dances for

Northwest Dance Network at The Leif Erickson Ballroom, Sonny Newman's dance hall, and USA Dance-Seattle at Washington Dance Club (Salon du Swing). All were tremendously successful and we thank all you dancers for inspiring us. From the comments and feedback we received, I'm sure you'll be seeing us returning to all three venues soon.

There's an interesting note for you dancers ,(and want-to-be dancers) on the News page of this web site.

SECOND SUNDAYS at the New Orleans

These gigs are temporarily on hiatus. We expect to resume the series later this year. As soon as we know, we'll inform you here.

The Radio Rhythm Orchestra features instrumental originals and arrangements by our late founder, John Holte, and vocals by Charlotte Carruthers. Performances begin at 7PM and will go to 10PM at least. If the turnout is good we play longer; the last three went past 11.

The New Orleans is an all ages venue with a great kitchen and some room for dancing. $5.00 at the door..

When the series resumes, it will continue every second Sunday from 7PM to 10PM (longer if you all show up) at the New Orleans Creole Restaurant, an all ages venue.

114 1st Avenue South in Seattle, from 7 to 10 PM.

(206) 622-2563 and 1-888-824-7064

For these dates, we will be focusing on instrumentals and vocals by Charlotte Carruthers when she's in town, rotating three of John Holte's magnificent librarys, for seven, ten, and thirteen piece orchestras, featuring seldom heard and/or rare arrangements by John Holte and other notable Northwest writers, and historical masterpieces. We are doing our best to perform all of John's completed original compositions in their original form.

The New Orleans features a full menu of authentic New Orleans specialties, and is open to all ages.

Sonny Newman's Dance Hall;  next date T.B.D.

201 N. 85th Street (in Greenwood). (206) 784-3010. There is a predance workshop and a charge at the door for either or both. All ages. Wonderful sprung wooden floor.

Leif Erickson Ballroom; Saturday, December 20.

The Northwest Dance Network's holiday ball last year was  the biggest and best ever, breaking our attendance record for this venue. We will be returning for the next one (our fourth consecutive) on Saturday, Dec 20, 2008, 8:30 PM to 12 midnight. Don't miss this holiday dance which has become a tradition in Seattle's dance community.

Leif Erickson Ballroom, 2245 NW 57th in Ballard. Dance is $13. Dance and workshop is $17. All ages.

A big dance floor and the best swing band in Seattle.

As always, our other groups remain active on the private party circuit, with upcoming dates at the finest venues throughout the Pacific Northwest.
